ANZAC Ceremony

A wreath made by the students of MDSS, for the ANZAC Ceremony.

If you happened to be walking past the school on Friday April 24th 2015 you would have noticed the row of red poppies lined up beside the entrance. This was the way a number of classes chose to acknowledge the National Day of Remembrance and the first landing of the Anzacs at Gallipoli. If you decided to come into the school grounds more poppies were scattered throughout the garden beds, and if you decided to stay for our commemorative ceremony you would have been moved to tears.

Our school students stood proud and tall as they respectfully acknowledged those who served and died in all wars. Even though some of our students would have struggled with the true meaning of the day, intuitively they knew it was an occasion of significance. The singing of ‘Amazing Grace’ added to the mood. It was a truly moving ceremony. Thank you to Vanessa, Leonie and School Captains for organising the event.
